Frontend crashes when finishing Appearance setup

Though I understand this is probably more of an X problem than Mythtv I suspect there is some relation to the recent change to OpenGL drawing in myth (it started when I needed to append -O UseOpenGLPainter=0 because OpenGL is way to slow on my system).
