corrupted seek table

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: Isaac Richards

Description

I cannot pin point when this exactly happens but often when I record something with mythtv the seek table will be all messed up and i'll have to run mythtranscode to rebuild it. If I don't, it shows that the entire show is like 26 hours long and I cannot fast forward or rewird. Another problem also occurs is that mythcommflag automatically runs and if the seek table is corrupted mythcommflag never finishes it as it thinks the show is 26 hours and constantly keeps working, so I got to manually kill mythcommflag, run mythtranscode and then restart mythcommflag.

I also had a show once record on me and show that it is 1 second long where it was about 2 hours, and even after running mythtranscode or mythcommflag with rebuild parameter I never could correct the seek table, so I just deleted the show as it was impossible to navigate through it. Any ideas? My source is dishnetwork.

  • Have you tried any of the scripts for fixing corrupted DB tables?
    • Did you try any of the other advice you got when you inquired about this problem on the mythtv-users mailing list? Any effect?
  • What recorder are you using? (DVB, FireWire?, ivtv, etc.)
  • What are the contents of the '-v record' logs for this recording?
  • A dump of the corrupted and non-corrupted seektable for a recording might be useful.
