Description
This ticket is a spinoff of #3773 since the fix for 3773 did improve the situation somewhat but didn't fix the problem totally. I will submit a new log and sample MPEG file when I get a few minutes.
The problem is still with certain SD firewire channels that exhibit a few symptoms:
- audio and vidio are usually not in sync
- skipping forward and sometimes backward exacerbates the problem resulting in choppy video and/or audio and audio errors in the log
- sometimes, playing the file from the beginning with no skipping works fine and is watchable
More details to come.

OK, when I play one of these files I get these messages repeatedly in the log (using -v playback):
2008-03-15 11:09:05.057 NVP: Video is 30 frames ahead of audio, doubling video frame interval to slow down. 2008-03-15 11:09:05.123 NVP: Video is 30 frames ahead of audio, doubling video frame interval to slow down. 2008-03-15 11:09:05.189 NVP: Video is 30 frames ahead of audio, doubling video frame interval to slow down.

Usually when I start the file playing, it is OK, with no messages in the log. It's when I skip forward or back that the messages above start occurring.

I get this same behavior. Only in SD channels via firewire. HD channels are fine. I see around a 1 second delay on sound. All profiles tested ( stock and custom), none help.
