NOTE: Ticket #5608 is currently marked as closed/fixed but does NOT resolve this issue and will not allow me to reopen it, given that (and that this is a related but different issue) I am submitting a seperate ticket.
This issue occurs using a bttv compatible PCI capture card. As reported in ticket 5608, after upgrading from kernel 2.6.24 to 2.6.26 the capture card volume is muted and cannot be made to un-mute via any mythtv settings (presumably due to issues with V4L2 or its compatibility layer). As a result, mythtv is functionally useless with this capture card under the newer kernel as no audio is captured.

I'm currently using a recent 0.21 release (at rev. 19046), which includes the patch from 5608, however I could switch to trunk if that would be helpful.

When you say "includes the patch from #5608" do you mean that you have applied the patch yourself? The fix wasn't committed until [19249], if you are building from source to apply a patch why not upgrade to this version?
If you are using packages, then you need to look for updates.
Please re-open the ticket if the problem still exists after upgrading to version [19249] or above.
Are you using trunk?
