bobdeinterlace is corrupt again.

Oh I am sure deinterlacing is off. and I double checked it, by turning bobdeinterlace off and on in mythtv settings. still seeing small vertical bars, which aren't v-sync errors. I am still getting this error.

Can you post the full output from 'mythfrontend -v playback' and provide a more detailed description of the problems you are seeing on screen.

After removing old libs and several recompiles, deinterlace is working. If I see anything in future I will create a new more detailed ticket. For now this ticket can be closed.

Is deinterlacing actually working or not?
That error message seems to be produced whenever we set the deinterlacing features to false/off (i.e. it doesn't actually appear to be meaningful).
